About Me

Emily is a Michigan native and grew up on Grosse Ile. She has a passion for land conservation that has matured from building forts in the woods as a girl, to assisting in the conservation of over 7,000 acres across southwest Michigan. Emily received a B.S. from Calvin College, majoring in biology with an environmental studies minor. She received an M.S. from the University of Michigan’s School of Natural Resources that focused on ecosystem management with an emphasis in conservation. Emily worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service both in Colorado and at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge before starting her career with the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy. For the last 15 years, Emily has enjoyed helping people conserve their land and stewarding the land already conserved. Emily, her husband Brook, and their 3 children reside on a small farm in Barry County. When she is not driving the kids to soccer, she enjoys reading, baking, and going for long walks with her dog.
